 To the Brotherhood of Tau Phi Delta;

Please consider the following request from your fraternity !!

Three years ago we became concerned with the condition of our back patio in terms of cracks and general safety hazards. Our Board of Trustees placed this project as a priority item within our Capital Campaign. The patio also serves as an excellent start for attracting alumni funding through our new non profit “Tau Phi Delta Foundation”.

As you will note from the attached design prospectus, the new patio will use specially designed pavers that will dramatically upgrade the aesthetics of our fraternity and also serve to display our heritage. Individual “brick donations” will be accepted from our alumni with inscriptions of their names, classes, and “classic” sayings (PG rated).

On a broader scale, our Board wishes to assure you that our House is in very good order and is still one of the best fraternities on campus! We have a remarkable reputation within the local community and at Penn State. Projects tied to the Game Commission’s Scotia area, State College’s Lederer Park, and the University-based Annual Blood Drive are the quality marks of our Fraternity.

And, on a more personal and professional note, our Alumni are viewed nationally as quality people and employees. We are highly regarded within a broad spectrum of professions: Forestry, Wildlife, Engineering, Biology, and other allied disciplines.

Overall, we have an excellent reputation – both in terms of the dynamics enjoyed by our Actives’ lifestyle and in the continuing success of our Alumni. As Alumni, many of us still recognize fellow Brothers as their best friends. Tau Phi Delta has served as the springboard to our future. It is where we got started.

And here is my final point, each of us has enjoyed special bonds of friendship and ties to Penn State resulting from our initial days at Tau Phi Delta. Now we need to share some of our gains with the current generations of new Brothers. We’re asking that you consider a multi-year pledge to your House and even consider sharing a portion of your estate with your Fraternity.

The enclosed application identifies several levels of giving; from the current Patio Project, to annual gifting, and possible intentions of including Tau Phi Delta within your estate plan. So now is not the time to think about “IF” you will contribute… now is the time to say I want to help my fraternity!

Fraternally yours,
Tau Phi Delta Foundation Board of Trustees
